Nature Message for Living
One great poet said, "If even one child cries on the roadside, the whole world's eco balance suffers". Today our country is filled with environmental pollution and dirt; playing with the lives of our young loved ones. We should all realize, before it is too late, that cleanliness is next to Godliness.
Swami Vivekananda said, "Jealously, hatred, bribery and such many afflictions are haunting us. We cannot progress until we free ourselves from them. "primarily patriotism and pride for the motherland should be inculcated and nurtured in the young minds of our country. When we were students, in our curriculum, we had many topics about "citizenship" in which the teachers and parents used to tell about great people to inspire and awaken patriotism in our days. Whereas today we do not find such feelings either in the topics in our curriculum, or with teachers or parents as a result of which the feeling of patriotism is not very strong.
After 53 years of Indian Independence we continue to say that our country is still is a developing country and not a developed country for various reasons. Whereas China, a country with the highest population has progressed in all areas today and has surprised the whole world with its pace of growth.
In our present day trend, education cannot be learnt but is "bought". We should not believe that determination could definitely lead to success. Those which can make one accept success and failure with equanimity is the strength of the mind. Is there a rule that all our efforts and endeavours should be successful? Success sometimes hinders progress and can act as a detriment for spiritual progress. Failure can open one's eye and can help one to prepare for self-sacrifice. Self-sacrifice is the synonym for eternal blessings. Without a positive objective no revolution can be a success. First we should keep our surroundings clean and behave in a disciplined manner.
Discipline is not that which one can rub on the other. Just like water from a well, it should spring naturally. We should develop it ourselves. We should practice to gain broadmindedness. Our thoughts should be generous and humane. As said by Dr. Sanjiv Dev, "The Veena is created by man and can produce more tunes than the human voice. Man created the car but he himself cannot out beat it in speed. That which is created by man possesses more power!
Education is the path used to help man lead life on a righteous path, whereas now it is helping man earn for a mundane living. Education must not be perceived as a means to earn for one's living. If we do so, we will lose a great opportunity. Students apart from natural sciences must study literature and music too. That expands their vision. Students must develop an adventurous spirit leaving differences and insecurities behind. They should consider life itself as an adventure. There is a need to improve one's educational system. Even though all the State Government spend a lot of money on students who aspire to become a doctor, many of these students complete their studies and then go abroad to earn and thereby pay taxes to that Government. But a farmer, a cobbler or a family head in India raise their families, educate their children and pay taxes to the Government of their great motherland.
The poet Kalidasa proclaimed with a broad out look. The king should reign keeping the well being of prakrit (nature) also. But man today with the greed to grow, is selfishly trying to use up the power of nature too. Our country had 33% forest area earlier, now it has reduced to less than 18% because of population. There is an increase in temperature and that is affecting on all our seasons very badly.
A great genius, India's very own progeny, a great engineer Dr. K.L. Rao visited India as teaching faculty from abroad said, "If all the rivers of India are conjoined and projects are developed we could be much ahead in all areas. Most countries do not have natural resources that India has. "Being a citizen I can proudly say that in Tamil Nadu we have wonderful resources of nature. We do not know hoe to use it properly and judiciously. Though all us have eyes, very few have a vision in our lives. Our politicians and leaders do not have the conscience to appreciate the vision and thoughts of the great personalities of yesteryears. Due to this, we are facing the consequences of wasting our precious water.
One great spiritual preacher said, "As our temples and scriptures keep alive our culture even after many years pass by, so also our precious water.
During each festival, decorating green festoons, making colourful Rangolies, arranging cultural and literacy programs all add to the importance of festivals. Music, sports and arts constitute great symbols of our culture. We should protect our environment, which adds beauty to our country. We should strive hard to prevent pollution and fill our world with peace and plenty of greenery.
India cannot be compared with any other country in the world due to various reasons -Unity in diversity; Pluralistic in nature; heterogeneous in set up; Unique in all means. Our country's natural resources like trees and plants cannot be found in any other country. It can survive very easily; the maintenance is very easy because we are provided with good water, soil, climate conditions. So every individual must have the feeling that "I AM PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN. I AM PROUD OF MY COUNTRY AND ITS VAST RESOURCES AND WILL DO EVERYTHING WITHIN MY MEANS TO RESPECT, PROTECT AND PRESERVE THIS GIFT OF NATURE GIVEN TO US BY GOD".
